Hi Ali, I really appreciate this article. I've worked in offices before, and while I've never been fired, I've always doubted my ability to play by the rules. There are just so many rules to keep up with. I always felt like other people were naturals at office politics. And I was the odd one out for not understanding all the rules.

Eventually, I left office work to write full-time. I'm glad I did. I do much better at my home office. I still enjoy interacting with clients and peers, but it's more on my terms because I'm a business owner.
